A Texas fire department is mourning the loss of a veteran firefighter.
Alvin Volunteer Fire Department Capt. Charles D. Krampota assisted with a structure fire on Sept. 23.
Hours later, he was found dead in his home, AVFD announced on its Facebook page.
Krampota had been with the department for 20 years.
"Charlie was an outstanding firefighter and friend to many. One of the most dependable and hardworking individuals I have ever met. He will be sorely missed," said Chief Rex Klesel.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
